New Year, New Home?

New Year, New Home
New Year, New Home

In normal January fashion, you are making resolutions, vowing to change your life and do better for yourself this year. You are probably also regretting all your choices – all the money you spent, all the extra helpings you had etc. Lucky for you, there is a whole twelve months to get organized. If getting a new home is top of your list this year, there are a few things you can do to make sure you get that goal ticked off by or before the end of the year.

Get yourself a proper real estate agent
Agents understand the local market, they know what property has just come on the market and which one was snapped up at a really good price. At Pam Golding Properties, our agents bring a wealth of knowledge to you and help you make an informed decision. You could also do your own research; the internet has made everything so much easier.

Know what you must have and what would be nice to have

Sit down, make a realistic list of what you would like to have in your dream house and this will help you narrow down your search. Prioritize your needs and factor in everything including the number of children you will want to have, that is if you plan on increasing your family size.

Budget
Be realistic about what you can afford. There is really no need to stretch yourself too thin. Look around and find out if you qualify for a mortgage, and what type you can get. Your agent can help you find comparable home prices and show you the kind of homes that would fit your budget.

Location, Location, Location

We are all familiar with this phrase, and while the neighborhood may change over time, the physical location never will. Figure out how close you want your home to be to your place of work or the kids’ schools or shopping malls etc. An easy commute and close proximity and access to the highways and other place should be things on your must have list.

It has been said before, buying a house could be the most important decision you make in your life, so you have to make it count.
